Skill Level Classification in Basketball Free-Throws Using a Single Inertial Sensor

چکیده

Wearable sensors are an emerging technology, with growing evidence supporting their application in sport performance enhancement. This study utilized data collected from a tri-axial inertial sensor on the wrist of ten recreational and eight professional basketball players while they performed free-throws, to classify skill levels. We employed fully connected convolutional neural network (CNN) for classification task, using 64% training, 16% validation, remaining 20% testing model’s performance. In case considering single parameter sensor, most accurate individual components were upward acceleration (AX), accuracy 82% (sensitivity = 0.79; specificity 0.84), forward (AZ), 80% 0.78; 0.83), angular velocity sagittal plane (GY), 77% 0.73; 0.79). The highest was achieved when these CNN inputs stack-up matrix three axes, resulting 88% 0.87, 0.90). Applying wearable successfully classified as or up 88%. represents step towards development biofeedback device improve free-throw shooting technique.

Modeling Basketball Free Throws

This paper presents a mathematical model for basketball free throws. It is intended to be a supplement to an existing calculus course and could easily be used as a basis for a calculus project. Students will learn how to apply calculus to model an interesting real-world problem, from problem identification all the way through to interpretation and verification. Along the way we will introduce t...

Do pre-performance routines have a role in free throws accuracy of basketball players?

A significant portion of research exploring pre-performance routines in sport has focused on the behavioral and temporal characteristics of the routines. This study aimed to investigate the role of behavioral and temporal consistency in those pre-performance routines. The duration and dominant behavioral patterns exhibited before each free throw (N = 1025) were observed during a total of 60 Ira...

Standing Handball Throwing Velocity Estimation with a Single Wrist-Mounted Inertial Sensor

Background. It is well known that overarm throwing is one of the most performed activities in the handball. Shoulder and glenohumeral injuries incidence are high in handball because of both pass, and shooting activity was executed repeatedly in high angular speed. Objectives. This study set out to investigate the usefulness of inexpensive commercial inertial movement sensors for prediction of ...

Compare the Effect of Mental Practice Traditional, Pettlep and Physical on Basketball Free Throw Skill

One of The mental skills that suggested by psychologists for athletes is mental imagery. Imagery is a conscious internal process that mimics real-life experience in absence of sensory perception experience. The aim of this study was to compare the effects of traditional mental practice, Pettlep and physical practice on basketball free throw skill. In this study 40 participant after evaluation w...
